Michael Reed​ Director of Soccer

  • Michael Reed brings a vast amount of experience as both a player and coach. Michael played for Memphis 901 FC, Nashville SC, San Antonio FC, Atlanta Silverbacks and the Minnesota Stars. He was team captain at Nashville SC and San Antonio FC.
  • Michael’s coaching experience includes time at Beaman United FC, Nashville FC, St. Thomas University, Wilson United Soccer Club, Dakota Rev Soccer Club, Ravenwood High School and Chanhassan High School. He also holds a USSF B License and has completed multiple courses including US Soccer Pro License Education, Mental Health First Aid and Tactical Periodization in Soccer.

Head Coach

Rafael Ferreiro  

Rafael Ferreiro joins Fort Lauderdale SOLAIYA FC as Head Coach with over 20 years of coaching experience where he acquired various coaching certifications that include UEFA “A”/English FA Level 4 Coaching Badge, English FA International Coaching Diploma, USSF “A” License and NSCAA Premier Diploma. Rafael has a coaching career that has found success at various levels from Co-Founding Pure Futbol Soccer Academy where has helped develop over 100 players into collegiate soccer players, to winning youth championships with Fort Lauderdale Rush Travel Soccer Club as well as with Cardinal Gibbons High School Boys Varsity soccer program in winning 9 District Titles and 3 State Final Four appearances and being name Sun Sentinel Broward County Coach of the year in 2022. In coaching at collegiate level, he also found success as assistant coach at Barry University Men’s soccer program for over 4 years helping win the Sunshine State Conference League and Tournament Championship in 2014. His Success then took him into the APSL (Adult Semi-pro League) with Miami Dade FC where he guided the team into winning the League title undefeated in 2015 and the following year in 2016 they won their 2nd League Title undefeated and 1st Playoff Tournament Championship.

As a player, his career began in South Florida youth soccer where he played for various local youth travel soccer clubs winning numerous state titles and national championship runner up medal. Rafael also saw stints with the USA Youth U-15 and U-17 National Team. At 15 years old he was scouted by Real Madrid and invited to be on a month-long trial. During his High School Soccer career, he won 3 District titles and 2 State Runner-up Medals as well as being named 3-times 1st Team All-County, 1998 Miami Herlad Broward County Player of the Year, 1998 Gatorade Florida State Player of the year. In 2014, he was inducted into the Cardinal Gibbons Athletic Hall of Fame. In college, he played at FIU (Florida International University) during his freshman year he was team leader with 14 assists. He later transferred to NSU (Nova Southeastern University) where he won 2 Conference Championships, 2 National Championship Tournament appearances. He was named 3 times NAIA All-American, 3 Times Conference and Region 1st Team and NSU Co-MVP in 2001. His professional career began with Racing de Ferrol from 2002-2004 in Spains 2nd Division under coach Luis Cesar Sampredo. He then ended his playing career with Sportivo Cerrito in Uruguay’s 1st Division.

Rafael Ferreiro lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with his wife Danielle Rose Ferreiro and 3 children Aiden, Evan and Charlotte.

Olaf Hanke Sporting Director

  • Olaf Henke joins Fort Lauderdale Solaiya FC with over 45 years of playing / coaching and leadership experience in Football/Soccer.
  • He has been with Fort Lauderdale Rush FC since its inception in 2007 and, as Club Director, oversees the daily operations and all age groups (~600 players annually).
  • Originally from Germany, Olaf spent most of his playing career in his home country, growing up with 2nd division team Motor Eberswalde.  He later moved on to play for various other clubs in Berlin, Munich and Düsseldorf. After an injury ended his playing career in 2001, he went on to become a coach and manager for local teams in Germany.
He continued the path after he moved permanently to the US. Olaf holds several licenses and diplomas (NSCAA Advanced National License, USSF “B” License, National Youth License, Director of Coaching Diploma, GK Level 1&2 amongst others) and in the last 17 years has gained experiences at pretty much all levels of the game in the country:
